Mentholatum Therapy Lip Balm

Hi everyone!

Since I'm always in the air-conditioned room now, due to school, my lips are getting really dry and chapped recently.

Although I exfoliate and moisturize my lips everyday, my lips still manage to dry and chapped on me!~

I'm actually really glad I found this product earlier this year (in Janurary?) when I forgot my lip balm and really needed one!~

This lip balm has SPF 15 in it that acts as a sunscreen for our lips to prevent them against sunburn.
Yes your lips will get sun burnt too!~ They are part of your skin so there's nothing to be surprised about!~

It prevents and heals dry, chapped and sunburned lips too.

Product Description,
Mentholatum Therapy Lip Balm relieves soreness & burning caused by colds, harsh weather & sun. Contains Camphor for fast effective relieve to dry, chapped lips
Should be applied 3-4 times daily
SPF15 to protect lips against sunburn

Just like most of the lip balm we've seen around, it is in a stick form.
This lip balm is unlike other lip balms I've tried.
It doesn't feel buttery or oily. It actually feels like there's a layer of cream/gel/balm.
I can't really lay my finger on it.

As you can see I've been enjoying using this product because of what it does to my dry, chapped lips.

Instead of saying it is moisturizing, which I don't think what this is suppose to do, I feel that it nicely protects my lips from the exposure of the tough weather condition.

This product actually stays on your lips for hours!
I remember applying it before I went to bed at night and in the morning, which is about 8 hours later, I could still feel the product on my lips.

My thoughts,
From my experience.

For starters, I don't remember seeing anything on the packaging mentioning that this lip balm is for moisturizing.
Because I remember when I was looking for a lip balm, I was mainly looking for something that can soothe the pain on my chapped lips, and this mention to do that.

Therefore, if you are looking for a moisturizing lip balm, I wouldn't recommend this.
This balm does not moisturize your lips at all.

This is what the balm did to my lips,
1) soothe the pain of my chapped lips, I had really cracked lips that were bleeding a little at that moment, and this lip balm help soothe the pain.
2) It leaves a cooling/minty sensation and it aids the soothing too.
3) It leaves a layer of product on the surface of your lips to protect it from the harsh weather/condition that dries your lips even more
4) It didn't mention on the packaging but it actually softens the dried skin on my lips and the dried skin will detach from my lips without causing a larger wound.
5) It heals the crack wounds cause by the dried lips.

What I like about this product, like mentioned above, this product helps with the healing chapped lips. It does makes you feel much better, less pain/discomfort with the chapped lips.
It leaves a layer of product on the surface of your lips which also protects the wound so it wouldn't get irritated when you drink water or eat.
Because it gets rid of the dried skin, it actually leave your lips feeling softer too!

What I don't like about this product, I didn't followed the instructions and kept reapplying. And at the end of the day, my lips became pale. I don't know what's going on. But after washing the product off it seems fine. It really scared me for a moment.
I actually also hope that this comes with a moisturizing property so I don't have to apply a different moisturizing lip balm above it to moisturize my lips.

Would I recommend it? Yes, If you have really dry, chapped lips. Like mentioned above, if you're looking for a lip balm that give moisture to your lips, then this is not what you're looking for. It is not an expensive product, and it does what it is suppose to do effectively, definitely worth the buy.

This retails for SGD$6.90 (I'm guessing) at our local Guardian, Watsons and all major supermarket and department stores.

That's all for today!~
